Practicing the Course

“You first forgive, then pray, and you are healed”

The Kingdom of God is within my mind; there is nothing external to myself. All minds are constantly sharing in total Oneness. At the inner (mind) level I create everything that happens to me. Every aspect of every relationship is a mutual choice. Everything I experience is as free as thought. So I must be vigilant with my thoughts to make them compatible with Love.

FORGIVE

“Only in someone else can I forgive myself and know myself.”

Set Goal – I decide the kind of day I want, the kind of world I want to see and I commit to practice.

  1.   At the first sign of irritation, I stop and remember it is the result of my perceptual error.

  2.   I choose to look beyond it for the peaceful, loving face of Christ in my brother.

  3.   I ask the Holy Spirit/J for help to do this.

Key points to remember:

PRAY

“Prayer is part of forgiveness as long as forgiveness remains unattained.”

Prayer is the greatest gift of God; the song the Son sings to the Father, Who returns the thanks offered Him unto the Son in joyous concord of Love.

When I pray I give myself up to be at one with Love. God is the goal of every prayer, and prayer brings the peace of God.

  1.   I close my eyes, take some slow, deep breaths, and become still,

  2.   I put everything I value and all my thoughts aside.

  3.   I thank God in silent, joyful appreciation.

Practice of forgiveness and prayer leads to miracles and to God. I discover the freedom to be whatever I wish in cooperation with All That Is, and I will experience joy beyond anything I can imagine.

How to live

Same as always

What to think at the first sign of irritation

1)   Give up all attack thoughts because the situation is your illusion.

2)    Ask the Holy Spirit for help to see peace.

3)    Know that it will turn out well.

How to handle an upsetting interpersonal situation

1)  Do nothing until your thoughts are right and you feel no irritation.

2)   Respond only if you are certain of your ability to refrain from attack in any form.

3)    Join with your brother.

What to remember

1)  God loves you.

2)    You are not guilty in any way.

3)    Your brother is equally innocent.
